Release Dates Confirmed for Switch and Zelda

March 3rd will see the release of Nintendo’s latest console, the Nintendo Switch.  The Switch’s main feature is that it allows players to seamlessly switch between playing at home and playing on the go.  It also allows for face-to-face multiplayer as well as online multiplayer.  The battery life of the handheld console will depend on the game you are playing but should last between 2.5 and 6.5 hours.  The Joy-Con controllers are advertised as having incredible sensing and vibrating technologies, allowing the player to feel what is happening in the game.

The Nintendo Switch is currently available for pre-order at the recommended retail price of $299.99 USD.  The console can be purchased with either black Joy-Con controllers or switching it up with neon blue and neon red controllers with additional colours sold separately.  GameStop has already sold out of their available pre-orders.

Along with the announcement of the release date, Nintendo announced the games that will be released with the console.  They will be releasing 1-2-Switch, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and, most excitingly, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.  There are a number of other popular games that will be released on the Switch following it’s release including Splatoon 2, Skyrim, Fifa and Minecraft.

1-2-Switch is the ultimate demonstration of the Nintendo Switch’s abilities.  It is made specifically for the Switch and utilities all of it’s features in a number of different styles of games, tests and competitions.  Something special about this game is that you don’t need to look at the screen to play, instead you need to look at the other players.  This makes it the ultimate party game.

Everyone has patiently (or impatiently in some cases) been awaiting the release of the next installment in the Zelda series.  The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has been announced as one of the Nintendo Switch’s release day games, meaning that fans now have less than two months wait for the release of the game.

Along with the announcement of the release date, they have also released a new trailer for the much anticipated Zelda game.  The trailer features a more in-depth look at the story line as well as more landscapes and characters.
